A list your community keeps, and the facilitator who keeps it
One place for a community to share what it needs with the people willing to carry it, and one role, the Devotional Facilitator, for the person who already keeps that list.
PrayerAsks gives a community one place to share its needs, and its asks for prayer or devotion, with the people willing to carry them. It also shows what is going on in the community: who needs help, and what is happening in people's lives.
In every community I have been part of, somebody already keeps this list, usually without anyone noticing. We call that person the Devotional Facilitator. They carry the asks nobody else has picked up, put the list together for the next gathering and read it aloud, welcome people into the anonymous channel, and ask about outcomes without making anyone feel chased.
Their worklist shows the asks nobody has carried after two days, the dates that passed without an answer, and the next gathering. One tap lays out the read-aloud sheet, which starts with what happened before it turns to what is asked.
What makes community building so complex is that it occurs in an infinite number of small steps.
After a gathering, the facilitator enters how many people carried each ask in the room. It is a number with no names attached, so a room of forty counts as forty.
What I hope for is plain: every ask gets carried, and everyone who carried it hears how it turned out.
